Enrollment Process
- Read and complete the enrollment application form (see below).
- Come for an in-person interview with a valid form of identification (see requirements below).
- During the interview sign a consent form for a background check (a criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from enrollment).
- During the interview explain what your goals are in enrolling in this program.
- During the interview have a facilities tour.
Requirements for Enrollment
- You are aged 18 or more when the course starts (a member of SGBC may be under 18 if approved by the program administrator and instructor).
- You can read and understand basic English.
- You have sufficient health for doing physical work for several hours per day (does not apply to IT).
- You have the physical abilities to work with hand and power tools.
- You are motivated to study.
- You have a valid personal Driver's License, ID-card, or Passport, a copy of which you will present at your enrollment interview.
- You will consent to a criminal background check. Please note: a criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from enrollment.
- You will consent to a drug test at your expense.
- You will attend one SGBC worship service (English or Spanish) per week during the 10 week program.
- You are able to attend our class schedule which is Saturdays 8a-11a and 12p-3p
- You will have lunch (provided by SGBC) with instructors and classmates 11a-12p.
Requirements for Completion
- Completion of 60 hours of instruction.
- A score of at least 70% on the final written exam (may be taken more than once).
- Must have participated in lunches with instructors and classmates
- Must have attended ten SGBC worship services.
- Must have applied for at least one job.
Code of Conduct
- Trainees must be courteous towards instructors and other trainees at all times.
- Trainees must follow all directions of instructors at all times.
- Trainees must take care to avoid any action or behavior that endangers the safety of themselves or others.
- Any violation of the code of conduct may be grounds for immediate dismissal from the program.
